Elijah Sichone

Executive Secretary of the Regional Electricity Regulators Association of Southern Africa - RERA

Elijah C. Sichone is the Executive Director of the Regional Energy Regulators Association of Southern Africa (RERA) and has 31 years of working experience in the energy sector. Prior to joining RERA in 2005, he worked for the then National Electricity Regulator (NER) of South Africa during which time he also served as the Executive Secretary of the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR). He also worked in senior positions in Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board (ERB) and the Department of Energy (DOE), and for UNIDO on a two-year secondment as National Project Coordinator.

Elijah holds two bachelors degrees, a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Degree from the University of Zambia and a Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil) in Sustainable Development (specializing in Renewable and Sustainable Energy) from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Sustainable Development (specializing in Renewable and Sustainable Energy) from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Elijah also qualified in 2011 as a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), a professional certification program by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) of America.
