Peru will host the world's most important Forum on Energy Regulation.

Everything is getting ready for the upcoming start of the VIII World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFER), a world-class event that will position Peru as a leader in the energy regulation agenda and global energy transformation, with citizen well-being at its core. This Forum is part of the official agenda of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Peru, and Osinergmin is the agency responsible for its implementation.

The WFER will be held in person between August 22 and 25 and has confirmed the participation of leaders and representatives of regulatory bodies from more than 40 countries of America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Asia, among speakers and participants. This multicultural space will enrich the exchange of experiences and best practices related to the energy transition process both in developed and developing countries.

The holding of the Forum in our country is transcendental since it is the first time that the Forum will take place in South America. WFER's previous editions have been held in main cities around the world, such as Washington, Montreal, Rome, Athens, Quebec, Istanbul, and Cancun. Our country won the bid during the last Forum held in Mexico in 2018 by competing against Austria.

The central theme of the VIII WFER will be "The challenge of energy transformation: competitiveness and sustainability of energy markets, opportunities and achievements," and the presentations are sustained on four pillars: competitiveness, institutionalism, energy transition, and universal access to energy.

The World Forum of Energy Regulators is, in turn, the main platform of the International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER), an international cooperation association that brings together more than 200 energy regulators from all continents, whose main objective is to facilitate the understanding of global energy regulation.
